At Central Coast RBS, we understand that your ABC license is your livelihood and we want to do everything we can to help you protect it. We offer personalized California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) "Best Practices" Level I, Level II and Level III Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) training as well as other industry related courses. The primary goals of RBS training courses are to increase public safety and prevent costly fines, license suspensions or license revocations as a result of sales/service to minors and sales/service to overly intoxicated customers. We will come to you with these goals in mind any day of the week and at any time of the day or night with quality RBS training tailored to the specific needs of your business, your managers, your employees and your license type.  We provide the newest edition of the industry standard 2018 United States & Canada I.D. Checking Guide as well as ID checking multi-tools and ID checking cheat sheets for each client location for private course clients.  Courses can be combined.  Contact us for course pricing information as prices vary based on the number of participants and location.   1. ABC LEVEL I "VOLUNTEER SERVER"

    "Special Event Server Training" is for individuals involved in alcohol sales or service at fairs, festivals and special events where a temporary ABC permit has been issued including those volunteering for non profit fundraising events. This course covers the different types of liability for the promoter and server, applicable state laws and ABC regulations, violation penalties for server and promoter, identification of fake ID's, impaired driving/DUI laws, local ordinance issues and venue policies, health and safety issues, community impacts, signs and symptoms of intoxication, stages of intoxication and intervention responsibilities for the overly intoxicated. THIS COURSE IS 1-2 HOURS
  2. ABC LEVEL II "ON SALE" PROFESSIONAL SERVER

    "Professional Server Training" is customized for employees involved in the sale or service of alcohol in wine tasting rooms, breweries, pubs, bars, nightclubs and restaurants. This course includes all topics in Level I as well as an emphasis on the issues "ON-SALE" servers and sellers face including strategies for preventing patrons from becoming overly intoxicated and refusing service to those that are. This course includes an in depth and hands on analysis of fake ID's to determine authenticity using the 2016 ID Checking Guide book, flashlights, ultra violet lights and magnifying lenses. We also cover techniques for establishing fraudulent use of authentic ID's presented by the underage but belonging to another person who is 21 or over. Additional topics include the interaction between alcohol and drugs (illegal and prescription), metabolic rates of alcohol, individual alcohol tolerance and the effect tolerance has on intoxication, food promotion, identification of the appropriate time to discontinue service, procedures to refuse service professionally and deescalate the patron who becomes argumentative, aggressive or hostile. We understand that refusing service is uncomfortable for many sellers and servers so we encourage participants to engage in the industry specific role playing exercises available in the full 4 hour class to build maximum confidence in this area.   3. ABC LEVEL II "OFF SALE" RETAIL CLERK

    ABC Level II "OFF SALE" is customized for retail employees involved in the sale of alcohol in grocery stores, convenience stores, gas stations and other retail outlets. This course includes all topics in Level I as well as an emphasis on the issues "OFF SALE" sellers face including an in depth and hands on analysis of fake ID's to determine authenticity using the 2016 ID Checking Guide book, flashlights, ultra violet lights and magnifying lenses. We also cover techniques for establishing fraudulent use of authentic ID's presented by the underage but belonging to another person who is 21 or over. Additional topics include how to quickly identify signs and symptoms of those patrons that are overly intoxicated and strategies for refusing to sell alcohol to them based on their level of intoxication. Finally, we cover the issues and responsibilities of the business in abiding by the ABC "Retail Operating Standards," maintaining the ABC "Area of Control" and the serious ramifications of an ABC "Objectionable Conditions" investigation by law enforcement. THIS COURSE IS 3 HOURS
  4. ABC LEVEL III "SUPERVISOR/MANAGER"

    "Supervisor/Manager Training" is for licensees and individuals employed by the licensee with the responsibility of supervising or managing employees selling and serving alcohol. This class includes all topics in Level I and Level II as well as an emphasis on evaluating or establishing seller/server policies, identifying critical policy elements, the importance of timely and accurate incident documentation, ABC record keeping requirements and hiring practices. THIS COURSE IS 4-5 HOURS (OR 1.5 - 2 HOURS UPON COMPLETION OF LEVEL II)
  5. FAKE ID RECOGNITION

    While this course alone does not qualify as an RBS "Best Practices" Level I,II or III course for ABC penalty mitigation or an approved FDA Tobacco Retailer Training (TRT) Program for federal penalty mitigation, it provides employees with an in depth and hands on analysis of fake ID's to determine authenticity using the 2016 ID Checking Guide book, flashlights, ultra violet lights and magnifying lenses. We also cover techniques for establishing the fraudulent use of authentic ID's presented by the underage but belonging to another person who is 21 or older. After the completion of this course employees will have the knowledge, skills, tools and confidence to identify fraudulent ID use and refuse sale. This course is especially applicable to retailers selling tobacco products. THIS COURSE IS 1.5 HOURS

  7. INCIDENT DOCUMENTATION

    This course covers the importance of incident documentation for ABC licensees and the ways in which a timely and comprehensive incident report can mitigate or eliminate costly civil litigation and/or ABC penalty. This course includes identification of the types of incidents that warrant documentation, the different ways in which an incident can be documented, the components of thorough incident reporting and the resulting benefits to the employee, the employer and the community. We review actual incidents as well as in class role playing in order to facilitate practical report writing exercises. THIS COURSE IS 2 HOURS
  8. FDA TOBACCO RETAILER TRAINING (TRT)

    Tobacco Retailer Training (TRT) is a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) "Industry Guidance" (also referred to as Best Practices) program intended to educate retailers and their employees regarding the various local, state and federal laws relating to tobacco sales, specifically the new California "Tobacco 21 Law." The goals of TRT are to provide the information and tools necessary for employees and employers to comply with all applicable laws and regulations restricting the sale, advertising, promotion and youth access to tobacco products and the costly fines, suspensions or revocations that result from violations of the law. The course covers the "Minor Decoy" enforcement sting operation in depth and includes the entire Fake ID recognition course curriculum. This course will qualify you for penalty mitigation under federal law and may qualify you for penalty mitigation under local ordinance. THIS COURSE IS 2.5 HOURS
  9. SCENARIOS AND "ROLE-PLAYING"

    This course is made up entirely of scenarios created specifically for your business operation and the unique challenges your employees face. Students will participate as actors or "role-players" in scripted scenarios in order to build confidence by introducing them to a number of difficult situations they may face while employed. Role-playing will give your team the chance to get some experience in handling difficult situations and in developing creative problem-solving skills. Participants need to have attended one of our RBS or TRT courses within the last 12 months. THIS COURSE IS 2 HOURS
